Challenge 90 Rebuild / Tubular wings part 2
To help with the fitting of the side panels we made some brackets that would mount on the original LR mounts, these were very simple using short sections of angle which we drilled and tapped so that no nuts were involved.
I chose not to give up the inner wings so I used their radius to give me the shape that I wanted for the outer wing skin, I started by shaping a length of 2mm alloy to the shape that I required and then using 5mm ply cut out the template for my wing skin, once i was satisfied with the shape I used the wooden template to cut out the wing skin.
I then fastened both the inner and outer sections in place so that I could tack them together, once done I completed the welding on the bench.
