110 Trayback / Gearbox fitting
The next job was to fit the gear box to the engine however there was one small job to complete; I like to see the temperature of the gear box oil so we always fit a temperature sensor to the gear box sump.
When fitting an auto box to the engine we always ensure that it is a water tight seal. We fitted a 1.667 T’box which I have found has the perfect high box ratio for an auto box on 35 inch tyres.
Once the unit was complete the whole lot was sat on its mountings. You will see from the pictures that the hand brake drum is very close to the X member, it had been intended to fit a disc brake however we discovered that it took up more space then the drum brake and there fore would not fit, it now means that if we have to remove the brake drum we have to undo the gear box mounts and release the engine mounts so that the engine will tip back far enough to remove the drum not an ideal solution
