In 1879 Robert Louis Stevenson wrote ‘Travels with a Donkey in the Cévennes’ and writing about my journey with Ngiri (Warthog in Swahili), I would use the title ‘Travails with a Warthog’.

Dinner at the Auberge du Sud at Erg Chebbi was a relatively sophisticated affair and we decided to ‘dress for dinner’ and get out of our dusty fatigues – it was nice to feel fresh and human again.

Was a lovely affair, and after the three days of wild camping to get here we were thankful for our first shower with hot and cold running water (unfortunately all from the same hot tap).
