The Ninth Grand Tour - Cape to Cape 2012 Featured

Written by Natasha Elder
The event covered 1,500 miles from Cape Wrath (Scotland) to Cape Cornwall. It was planned as a Classic car tour closely linked to the format of long distance trials and rallies which were organised and run between the 1930's and 1960's (including the Rest and Be Thankful Hill Climb). We travelled through Western Scotland, the Lake Distrist, the Yorkshire Dales, Lancashire, Wales, Hereford, Somerset, Devon and finally through Cornwall (11 miles from St. Just). The climax of the event was a very wet spin through Truro!!

The aim of the event was to raise as much money as possible for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Up to now the group of 44 cars who took part in the event have managed to raise over £61,000.00 (with more donations arriving daily). The ongoing total figure raised over the past nine years the event has been running stands at over £488,000.00.
Alan and Cath managed to complete the tour with only a few hiccups and domestics!
