I've laid out my wiring loom for my 1990 RRC V8 before I put it back into the car, but there are two components I can't identify.

Any ideas?

Also, if I remove the ABS system (and the ABS ECU), do I have to do anything to the main ECU, or is it happy to carry on without it?

Okay, the thing on the right is a HEADLAMP DIM DIP ECU.

It's been suggested the the thing on the left might be a central locking controller - can anyone confirm that?

Will the MOT man not like the lack of ABS?

Will the MOT man not like the lack of ABS?
There are two schools of thought about that: One suggests that the ABS only has to work for the MOT if it's present, and as I've ditched everything to do with it (and got a new master cylinder) it should be fine.
The second is as the Tomcat is essentially a new car, it should be taken for an SVA test and then they'll write up the car "as new", as it were, so the lack of ABS will not matter.

DW: Thanks. It'd be an even better build if just one of the pieces of bodywork fitted without needing to be chopped up, but there we are.

sadly i think you have missed out on your SVA, you will be in IVA territory now.
have you checked this out.
i just had an SVA failure, and couldnt get the changes done in time for being re-tested.
i have now lots of changes to do for the IVA, so the vehicle is away to become an 'agricultural vehicle/crop sprayer' and will get trailered for longer trips.
(the receipts have just gone to the accountant for the tax deduction for 'farm machinery'
this was better for me than it becoming a 'commercial vehicle'

because i am disabled, this is yet another way into 'modifications'
i can even get conversions to suit my disability done VAT free, (autobox, seating, wheel chair carrying trayback, lol)

also very good for building trikes, and disabled young people can get a car licence when only 16 years old. (this is a wonderful country.)
possibly a thought for some people.
good luck.      george

I'll probably just take it for a VIC and an MOT, to be honest.

all the best, i have experience of VIC testing, but was no use for new builds, re insurance and road legal with my vehicles. great for rebuilds of right offs etc.
i am a car sprayer, so often involved with rebuilds, rather different from a new build & also getting an age related plate, not Q plated.
