Hi
I was interested to read your report as I have done the event about 6 times in my TJ Wrangler, as well as the Trophee Cevenol several times.

I think you should realise that these are French events and that it is you that doesn't speak the language, not the organisers. Infact Jean-Louis and Kathia both speak good English, as do some of the other organisers. I know them quite well and they are very genuine concerned people and would be upset if they thought you didn't understand. You only have to ask - they want you to enjoy the event and come back again!

I live fairly close to where the Cevenol is based, Les Vans, and the tracks that are used I have driven often. Many of them are steep, rocky and difficult. Although larger vehicles like yours are driven on this event be aware that there is the potential for damage to them. Your vehicle will get scratched as some of the tracks are narrow.

I don't want this to sound as a rant, only my feelings on an organisation that runs some well organised tough events.

I would just like to add to that really, I have a house about an hour from Chambon- Sur- Lignon and i find local people VERY talkative and friendly. You won't find many French in the area that do speak English but why should they? We visit their country so it is us that should make the effort.  All of the Organisers of the GRM and their marshalls are really freindly and very helpful. Smiley

The Mille Riviere is a brilliant event, the first time i did it was in a Frontera with my wife and six year old son and we had a whale of a time! Shocked,(moved on now and have a proper truck). Also done the Croisiere and the Cevenol but would just like to add that you could sustain a bit more than a few scratches on the latter Roll Eyes

I wasn't complaining about GRM or French people. like you, I like Jean Louis and got on well with marshalls. I speak enough French (alongside Dutch which is my native language, German and Spanish) to get by. The Belgian guys with the broken axle on day 1 didn't receive any assistance. That's just a statement of fact. When I cracked my front diff casing back in 2004 at the Croisiere, I had to sort it out myself too so that's fine. My report is meant to be a fair reflection of the event.

Hi all, glad to hear you enjoyed the event, the "Mille" has always been one of my favourites, go and enjoy the "Trophee Cevenol" thats the toughest event they organise,  and your Jeep will certainly aquit itself but I rather fancy you might want to delay your respray untill after the event,  go and have FUN!!!! its a great event and well supported. Best Regards to all.
