hopefully they've just been missed off the list by mistake... can't see any good reason why they wouldn't allow them...

Seems by the regs that there is quite a lot to change from a challenge truck to this, NO steering lock Huh its stupid things like that that put me off.
Would love to do this type of event but its a lot of changing silly things to comply with the regs, so I guess I wont be able to, shame Cry
How many tray backs have rear wheel arches that are level with the center of the axle?
Or are the scrutineers fairly sensible/common sence people!

The MSA tyre list is for safari events... Not XTC, I spoke to Mark & Vik Plamer at the AMG and they say as long as it has minimum of DOT approval it's ok for XTC, and challenges alike.

I think ull find "120 degree coverage from below the axle line and mudflaps"

The regulations are standard for Speed Events with the exception of the allowance of Hydro Steer

and tires are by challenge regs by what Vik and Mark told me?... meaning they do not have to be on the MSA tyre list, but just need DOT approval... Is that correct Neil?...

Best to get any of this cleared up 100% sooner rather than later... as it's new people just assume...  Huh

XTC is a Point to Point as far as i am aware, not a challenge event and, as such, the tyre list is mandatory. If it's not on the tyre list you can't use them.

That is not what the scrutineers told me a couple of weeks ago...  Huh Huh Huh

I was under the same impression, but Vik and Mark Palmer (AWDC / MSA scrutineers) both said that XTC is on normal challenge tyre regs...  Huh

Hi Rob

Dave is right Point to Point is a speed discipline so tyres must come from the MSA approved list. I am seeing Vic at a committee meeting this weekend so will clarify with him.

ok, well it's a good thing I didn't rush out and order some maxxis rubber... otherwise I'd have been sending Vik the bill!  Roll Eyes

Back to scratching my head as to what crappy tires I can get in anthing bigger than a 35" from the list then...  Tongue

Maxxis Creepy Crawlers... Nope
BFG Krawlers... Nope
Nitto Grapplers... Nope

There's not a huge amount of choice after those...

I need to find a tire that is no less that a 37" tall... but  not over aggresive...

I have boggers for when it is wet, but I also want a spare set of wheels for when it's dry and grippy... ie: if the weather is like the first XTC at Kirton...  Roll Eyes

Tyres will need to be listed on the MSA's tyre list

Scroll down on the following link to see the current list

http://www.awdc.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=545&sid=6ca0a0625dabf62f54085f82721ea46e

All three groups A,B & C will be permitted so ignore the bit where it says AGGRESSIVE - NOT ALLOWED

Any tyre listed there will be allowed

Neil please confirm that your statement above still stands?
