Two more months for the 4x4 Event of the Year, then its D-Day on 5 December in Johor Bahru.

1.    Opening Ceremony at Johor's majestic and historical building, Bangunan Sultan Ibrahim by royal VIP in the morning.

2.    Then proceed to Big Bang Adventure Carnival & Prologue SS "Battle Stations" at Sutera Mall, Sutera Utama, Skudai, Johor Bahru. Watch the thrills and
Spills of 4x4 action at the Prologue SS and enjoy the camaraderie from four wheels to two wheels and lots more, at Sutera Mall. See the venue at our website :
www.rainforest-challenge.com news update.

3.    This year's jungle route will be "By the Rivers of Babylon" campsites of Hulu Sedili and Hulu Sg Mas, not called Babylon for nothing. Some of 4x4 war will be fought in set-piece "battles" around campsites, some along the way and the ultimate, in the Twilight Zone. Be prepared for anything, including the unpredictable weather of course. For the seasoned, you know what we mean, for the new comers, well, take every day of the event in its stride, its not everyday that you get this chance to do four-wheeling in the RFC, and in the company of your international peers. Once you are in, there's no turning back - just flow with the happenings. No worry, you will make a lot of friends along the way, just keep your spirits up and be friendly.

4.    Welcome to Hotel Istana (Kuala Lumpur) and the Zone Regency Hotel (Johor Bahru), both 5-star accommodation as this year's RFC official accommodation. One is right in the heart of Malaysia's capital city, the other by the sea at the southern tip of mainland Asia. Both are central landmarks in its own right, Hotel Istana in KL's hotel and entertainment "Golden Triangle" and Regency Hotel in the Zone, is the "most happening hotel in Johor." Check out www.rainforest-challenge.com news update.

5.    If you wish to see some action footages of last year's Here Comes the Rain Again episode of RFC, here's the Youtube connection. Hope they will give you some more insight into the RFC.

6.    Enter The Dragon, our Chinese Connection. See the thrills and spills of this record breaking China-Sanya International 4x4 Challenge (19-23 September), which ended with a dramatic finale due to the side effects of Typhoon Ketsana. The most internationally represented 4x4 extreme sports event also turned out to be the most punishing 4x4 event in China. From 40 teams at the start, 33 survived the Prologue SS, 22 made it to the forest SS, 13 were fit enough to enter the Twilight Zone, but only 2 came out of it. 11 4x4s had to be recovered after the event from 25-29 September. Truly a "Terminator" event, worthy of its RFC roots. See the stories and pix www.rainforest-challenge.com news update.

7.    The international representation of this year's RFC, among others are : Denmark, UK, Germany, Italy, Spain, Poland, Hungary, Greece, Czech Republic, Russia, Sri Lanka, India, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, Vietnam, Philippines, China, Hongkong (China), Australia, New Zealand, USA, Canada and home country, Malaysia.

8.    For those who would like to join as touring adventurers for part-time (5 days) or full time (10 days), there are still places available.

9.    For those unable to take part, no worry, you are most welcome to catch up with the RFC in Kuala Lumpur's Hotel Istana from 1 to 3 December and catch the Opening razzmatazz and Prologue SS 4x4 action on 5 & 6 December at Bangunan Sultan Ibrahim and then to Sutera Mall, Sutera Utama, Skudai, Johor Bahru. Don't miss out on the 4x4 Event of the Year!

Live Your Passion in 4x4 in the World's Most Internationally Represented 4x4 Event. Contact the secretariat for any queries.

it will say they have 45 or more nations and in reality be a load of locals from Malaysia

expats from differant country's that live in Malaysia and a few ghosts that are meant to be there from differant continents

as always with Mr w the propaganda will make it sound the best in the world the reality is that he would not pay for the x-men after 2006 and the competition has turned to rat s**t!

if you need any further assistance on this matter please pm me your number and i will be happy to guide you along this slippery slope

Greetings and best wishes.

At last, another RFC, 13tth edition has just been completed, and what a record year it has been. From the state government and Johor committee advisor to all our sponsors, officials, participants, media, friends, fans and supporters, a BIG BANG thank you! Collectively, we have done it yet again, the making of RFC 2009. And what a RFC it has been. Consider the facts.

1.         Biggest 4x4 gathering of 721 4x4s at the Prologue SS at Sutera Mall, Johor Bahru on 5 December recorded by Malaysia Book of Records.
2.         Most number of Special Stages planned and completed (30 SS).
3.         Most number of log bridges built (temporary, dismantled after the event), in which reaching campsites was assured. Where there were none at the last section to campsite 3, there was a purpose to give excitement, teamwork and challenge to the convoy (last vehicle up Sg Selai was 2am on 12 December).
4.         Most elaborate police escort with overhead air support from beginning to end.
5.         Longest escorted road convoy of RFC covering a distance of 5km.
6.         Most elaborate military communications and paramedic support with army ambulance throughout the event.
7.         Best awards presentation night of RFC.
8.         Most number of national teams from peninsula to East Malaysia (Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, Kedah, Perak, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Melaka, Johor, Sarawak and Sabah).
9.         Total of 38 competing teams from Russia, Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Australia, New Zealand, Austria, Denmark, USA, Germany and Malaysia.

This year’s By the Rivers of Babylon has lived up to its theme, we were all able to savour the pristine beauty of all the 3 campsites, and at last, we were able to complete the route after the Great Flood of 2007 and the Unfinished Business of 2008. The organization revamp worked very well, with seniors and new blood working in cohesion this time, which resulted in all the achievements mentioned above. Of course, Mother Nature was kind this time around, which resulted in the only heavy rain in the afternoon of the Prologue SS.

But, even without the rain, there was a touch of everything this year – the route, the adventure, the challenge, the drama, the enjoyment at campsites, the efficient use of manpower and machinery, the razzmatazz opening and closing and the camaraderie. All in, it has been a great beginning and ending to RFC 2009. More news, pix and press releases coming up soon, in our website www.rainforest-challenge.com

For now, here’s a glimpse of RFC 2009 :  http://www.mycen.com.my/sightings/sightings061209_rainforest_challenge_2009.html

Season’s Greetings and a Happy New Year 2010!

Best regards.
