The lightweight and flexible properties of synthetic winch ropes make them far safer than working with steel, whilst the minimal stretch properties of the rope mean that in the event of a failure there is almost no stored energy to cause the infamous 'whiplash' effect.

Plasma 12 has class-leading abrasion resistance, and is one of the few brands of synthetic rope with breaking figures stated as a made-up assembly rather than just as a cut length. (Splicing a rope dramatically reduces the maximum strength).
